This the first ship to carry the name HMS Fowey was a fifth rate, 32-gun, ship.

Built by Burgess & Briggs of Shoreham, launched 07-May-1696, 108ft long, 28ft wide and of 377 tons builders measurement.

Captured by the French 01-Aug-1794 off the Isles of Scilly..
