This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Active was an iron screw corvette.

Built at Blackwall, launched 13-Mar-1869, 270ft long, 42ft wide and displacing 3,080 tons. Armed with 18 x 64pdr guns.

Sold 10-Jul-1906.

Won the Battle Honour: Ashantee 1873-74.
