This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Rapid was an 8-gun,
brig. Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 03-Jun-1849, 90ft long, 29ft 6in wide and of 319 tons builders measurement. Sold Jan-1856 at Singapore.
