This the first ship to carry the name HMS Rapid was a 12-gun, gun-brig.

Built by Davy of Topsham, launched 20-Oct-1804, 80ft long, 22ft 6in wide and of 178 tons builders measurement. Armed with 2 x 18pdr guns and 10 x 18pdr carronades.

Sunk by shore batteries 18-May-1808 River Tagus.
