This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Lapwing was a 4-gun, wooden screw gunvessel.

Built by White of Cowes, launched 26-Jan-1856, 181 ft 6in long, 28ft 6in wide and of 675 tons builders measurement. Armed with 1 x 110pdr, 1 x 68pdr and 2 x 20pdr guns.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Sold 1864.
