6th Rate 24-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Echo was a sixth rate, 24-gun, ship.

Originally French, captured May-1758 at Louisburg, Cape Breton Island, 118ft long, 32ft 6in wide and of 539 tons builders measurement, Armed with 24 x 9pdr guns.

Took part in operations at Quebec 1759 and Martinique 1762.

Returned to the UK 1763 and laid up in ordinary (reserve).

Sold 05-Jun-1770.

Won the Battle Honours: Quebec 1759, Martinique 1762 and Havana 1762.
