HMS Calcutta (1795)  (1st)
4th Rate 54-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Calcutta was a fourth rate, 54-gun, ship.

Originally an East Indiaman (Warley) bought 1795, 157ft long, 41ft wide and of 1,176 tons builders measurement. Armed with 26 x 32pdr, 28 x 18pdr and 2 x 9pdr guns.

Used as a 24-gun transport from 1804.

Captured by the French off the Isles of Scilly 26-Sep-1805.

Destroyed 12-Apr-1809 while in action against British ships.
