This the second ship to carry the name HMS Avon was a 3-gun,
wooden paddle packet. Originally the GPO vessel Thetis, transferred 1937, 144ft long, 23ft wide and of 360 tons builders measurement. Armed with 3 guns. Sold 09-Jan-1863.
