HMS Rocket (1943) DD  (8th)

    
This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Rocket was an R Class, destroyer.

Built by Scotts, laid down 14-Mar-1941, launched 28-Oct-1942, and commissioned 04-Aug-1943.

To the Eastern Fleet in South African waters 1943. Then 1944 still with the Eastern Fleet, went to the Indian Ocean where she stayed for the remainder of the war.

Mar-1944 caught the U-boat supply ship Brake, in the Indian Ocean.

Converted to the prototype Type 15 frigate Jul-1951 with pennant number F193 (Also used pennant number F191).

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Decommissioned 11-May-1962.

Arrived Mar-1967 for breaking up at Dalmuir.

Won the Battle Honours: English Channel 1943, Sabang 1944, Burma 1944-45 and East Indies 1945.
