HMS Rainbow (1892) CC  (8th)

    
This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Rainbow was a 2nd class protected cruiser.

Built by Palmers of Jarrow, laid down 1890, launched 25-Mar-1891 and completed 1892.

On completion served at Devonport 1892-95, then went to the China Station 1895-98. At Malta 1898-99 and returned to the UK at Devonport 1899-1901. Duty with the Cruiser Squadron lasted 1904-10.

Transferred to the Newly formed Royal Canadian Navy 1910 and served as a Training Cruiser on the Pacific coast 1910-14. At Esquimalt, British Columbia 1914-15. Then served as a depot ship 1915-20.

Sold 1920.
