This the third ship to carry the name HMS Rainbow was a fifth rate, 44-gun, ship.

Built by Carter of Limehouse, launched 30-May-1747, 133ft 6in long, 38ft wide and or 831 tons builders measurement.

Used as a troopship from Jan-1776, then harbour service from Jun-1784.

Sold Feb-1802.

Won the battle Honour: Lagos 1759.
