This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Pelican was a
16-gun, brig-sloop. Originally a French privateer (Frederic), captured Aug-1781 by HMS Emerald, 85ft 6in long, 23ft 6in wide and of 202 tons builders measurement. Sold 01-May-1783.
