This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Norfolk is the first of 16 Type 23 Duke Class (1990) Frigates.

Built at Yarrow Shipbuilders on the Clyde, laid down 14-Dec-1985, launched 11-Jul-1987, completed 24-Nov-1989 and commissioned 01-Jun-1990.

The ship's motto is "Serviens Servo - Serving, I Preserve".

Decommissioned 15-Apr-2005.

Sold to Chile as Almirante Cochrane, handed over 22-Nov-2006.
