This the second ship to carry the name HMS Modeste was a fifth rate, 36-gun, ship.

Originally French, captured 17-Oct-1793 by HMS Bedford, at Genoa, 143ft 6in long, 38ft 6in wide and of 940tons builders measurement.

Used as a floating battery from 1804.

Broken up Jun-1814.

Won the Battle Honours: Egypt 1801 and Java 1811.
