This the twelfth ship to carry the name HMS Lion was a third rate, 64-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 03-Sep-1777, 159ft long, 45ft wide and of 1,378 tons builders measurement.

Used as a sheer hulk from Sep-1816.

Sold 30-Nov-1837 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: 'Santa Dorotea' 1798, 'Guillaume Tell' 1800 and Java 1811.
