3rd Rate 60-gun

    
This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Lion was a third rate, 60-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 20-Jan-1710, 144ft long, 38ft wide and of 906 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Deptford 1738 as 1,068 tons bm and reclassified as a fourth rate.

Sold 14-Mar-1765.

Won the Battle Honour: Ushant 1747.
