HMS Formidable (1825)  (3rd)

This the third ship to carry the name HMS Formidable was a third rate, 74-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 19-May-1825, 196ft long, 52ft 6in wide and of 2,289 tons builders measurement, 3,594 tons displacement.

Built at Chatham Dockyard from frames captured on the stocks at Genoa, 18-Apr-1814, launched 19-May-1825. 178ft long,52ft 6in wide and of 2,289 tons builders measurement. This unusual construction was undertaken because supplies of good Oak were becoming scarce in Britain.

Used as a training ship 17-Nov-1869.

Sold 10-Jul-1906.
