HMS Edinburgh (1983) DG  (6th)

    
The current HMS Edinburgh is the sixth to carry the name, and is the second last Type 42 Destroyer to enter service with the Royal Navy.

Built by Cammell Laird Shipbuilders at Birkenhead, laid down Jul-1980, launched 14-Apr-1983 and commissioned 17-Dec-1985.

Refitted 1990 when Phalanx close in weapon system was fitted.

Took part in the Fleet Review 1994 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.

Refitted at Rosyth 2004/5.

In service Mar-2011.
