HMS Edinburgh (1887) BB  (4th)

    
The fourth HMS Edinburgh was a steel plated turret ship, laid down in Mar-1879, launched in 1882, and completed Jul-1887.

After taking part in the Jubilee Review of 1877, she served with the Mediterranean Fleet from 1887-94. Then coastguard ship at home until 1897. Two years in Reserve followed. Then gunnery training ship at Sheerness from 1899-1905. 

In 1908 was used as a target for gunnery trials designed to test modern armour and armour piercing shells.
