HMS Dragon (2011) DG  (14th)

     
This the fourteenth ship to carry the name HMS Dragon is a Type 45, Daring Class (2009), air defence, destroyer.

Major sections are built by BAE and Vosper-Thorneycroft, then brought together and assembled at BAE Systems shipyard at Govan, Glasgow.

Launched 17-Nov-2008.

Initial sea trials began 05-Nov-2010 and were completed 09-Jan-11. Final fitting out trials lasted until 30-Aug-2011.

Handed over to the Royal Navy at Portsmouth 31-Aug-2011 and commissioned 23-Jan-2012.

Is currently completing Operational Sea Training and expected to deploy early in 2013.
