HMS Danae (1798)  (3rd)

This the third ship to carry the name HMS Danae was a sixth rate, 20-gun, ship.

Originally French (Vaillante), captured 07-Aug-1798 by HMS Indefatigable in the Bay of Biscay, and renamed. 119ft long, 31ft wide and of 508 tons builders measurement. Armed with 6 x 32pdr and 12 x 12 pdr carronades, and 2 x 6pdr guns.

Taken into Brest by her mutinous crew 14-Mar-1800 and handed over to the French 17-Mar-1800.
