This the third ship to carry the name HMS Vanguard was a third rate, 70-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built by Ewer of East Cowes, launched 16-Apr-1748, 160ft long, 45ft wide and of 1,419 tons builders measurement.

Sold 13-Apr-1812.

Won the Battle Honours: Louisburg 1758, Quebec 1759, Martinique 1762 and Nile 1798.
