Wooden Screw Corvette 19-gun

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Tartar was a 19-gun, wooden screw corvette.

Ordered by Russia and seized while on the stocks. Built by Pitcher of Northfleet, 195ft long, 39ft wide and of 1,296 tons builders measurement. Armed with 1 x 110pdr, 14 x 8in and 4 x 40pdr guns.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up Feb-1866 at Charlton.

Won the Battle Honour: Baltic 1855.
