HMS Resolution (1771) (8th)

This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Resolution was sloop armed with 12 x 6pdr guns. Originally the Marquis of Granby, bought 1770 and renamed HMS Drake, 111ft long, 30ft 6in wide, and of 462 tons builders measurement. Renamed HMS Resolution 25-Dec-1771, and used as a discovery ship. Was in service at the same time as both the seventh and ninth HMS Resolution. Captured by the French ship Sphinx, in the East Indies, 09-Jun-1782.
