HMS Relentless (1942) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Relentless was an R Class (1942), destroyer.

Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 20-Jun-1941, launched 15-Jun-1942, and commissioned 30-Nov-1942.

On commissioning went to the Mediterranean, then to the Eastern Fleet in South African waters 1943. In 1944 still with the Eastern Fleet, went to the Indian Ocean where she stayed for the remainder of the war.

Caught the German U-boat supply ship Charlotte Schliemann in the Indian Ocean Feb-1944.

Converted to a Type 15 frigate 1951 with pennant number F185.

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Went into reserve Oct-1956 and returned to active service 27-Jun-1964.

Put on the disposal list Aug-1965.

Sold 29-Apr-1971 and broken up at Inverkeithing.

Won the Battle Honours: Sabang 1944 and East Indies 1944-45.
