HMS Pioneer (1900) CC  (9th)

    
This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Pioneer was a 3rd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 16-Feb-1896, launched 28-Jun-1899, and completed 1900.

On completion went to the Mediterranean 1900-04, then returned to the UK and went into reserve at Chatham 1905. Served as Drill Ship Australia Station 1905-12. Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy 28-Dec-1912.

Paid off 1912-13. Re-commissioned 01-Mar-1913 and served as Training Ship, Sydney 1914-15. Then to the East Africa Station 1915-16.

Laid up at Sydney Aug-1916.

Paid off 07-Nov-1916.

Sold 1924 at Sydney. Hull scuttled 18-Feb-1931 off Sydney Heads.
