HMS Pheasant (1943) SL  (7th)

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Pheasant was a Modified Black Swan (1942), escort vessel (sloop).

Built by Yarrow, laid down 27-Mar-1941, launched 21-Dec-1942 and completed 12-May-1943.

On completion escorted a convoy to the Mediterranean, and grounded at Tripoli. On return to the UK repairs took from Aug to Sep1943. Then it was support work in the Atlantic until the end of the year. Refitted Dec-1943 to Jan-1944 and went to the Mediterranean until Oct-1944.

Returned to the UK to refit at Leith Dec-1944 to Jan-1945 to ready her to join the East Indies Fleet. But joined the pacific Fleet Mar-1945.

When WW2 ended remained in the Pacific until 1954 when she returned to the UK to be paid off and put into reserve.

Remained in reserve until 1962 when she was put up for disposal.

Arrived at Troon 15-Jan-1963 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Sicily 1943, Atlantic 1943-44 and Okinawa 1945.
