This the first ship to carry the name HMS Magnificent was a third rate, 74-gun ship of the line.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 20-Sep-1766, 169ft long, 47ft wide and of 1,612 tons builders measurement.

Wrecked near Brest 25-Mar-1804.

Won the Battle Honour: The Saints 1782.
