HMS Lucifer (1837)  (4th)
Wooden Paddle Gunvessel 2-gun

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Lucifer  was a 2 gun, wooden paddle gunvessel. 155ft long, 22ft 6in wide and of 387 tons builders measurement.

Originally the General Post Office paddle packet Comet, built 1825 at Liverpool. Transferred to the Admiralty and renamed when responsibility for the packet service was rationalised and the Admiralty set up a Packet Department 01-Jan-1837.

Re-classed as paddle gunvessels about 1839-40.

Transferred to the coastguard service 1875 as a coastguard watchvessel and renamed CGWV.41

Sold 1893.
