HMS Legion (1940) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Legion was a destroyer.

Built by Hawthorn Leslie, laid down 01-Nov-1938, launched 26-Dec-1939, and commissioned 19-Dec-1940.

On commissioning served in home waters and took part in the Lofoten raid.

Mid-1941 formed part of the 13th Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean, which served mainly with Force K from Malta.

Dec-1941 assisted in sinking two Italian cruisers at Cape Bon.

While at Malta 25-Mar-1942 was bombed and declared a constructive total loss.

Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1941, Atlantic 1941, Cape Bon 1941, Libya 1941-42, Mediterranean 1941, Malta Convoys 1941-42 and Sirte 1942.
