This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Janus was a Clown class, 2 gun, wooden screw gunboat.

Built at Pembroke Dock, laid down 25-Jan-1856, launched 08-Mar-1856 and completed 31-May-1856.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Renamed YC 6, Dec-1869 and used as a coal lighter.

Sold 1917 at Hong Kong.

Won the Battle Honour: China 1856-60.
