HMS Irresistible (1902) BB  (4th)

This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Irresistible, was one of three Formidable Class battleships.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down Apr-1898, launched 15-Dec-1898 and completed Feb-1902.

She served with the Mediterranean Fleet from 1902-1908. Then following a refit, she joined the Channel Fleet in the second half of 1908. Then followed service with the Home Fleet 1909-11, 5th Battle Squadron 1912-14.

She joined the Dardanelles force early in 1915, and during action on 18-March-1915 she hit a mine and was abandoned. She finally sank under gun and torpedo fire from a shore battery.

Won the Battle Honours: Belgian Coast 1914, and Dardanelles 1915.
