This the first ship to carry the name HMS Hood was a second rate, 91-gun, screw, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 04-May-1859, 198ft long, 56ft wide and of 3,308 tons builders measurement.

Used for harbour service from 1872.

Sold 1888.
