HMS Grenade (1936) DD  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Grenade was a G Class, destroyer.

Built by Stephen, laid down 03-Oct-1934, 12-Nov-1935, and commissioned 28-Mar-1936.

At the start of WW2 was with the 1st Destroyer Flotilla in home waters, and took part in Norwegian operations.

Then May-1940 helped with evacuations from France and Belgium

Bombed 29-May-1940 while lying in Dunkirk with one bomb falling down a funnel. Towed clear of the fairway, later exploded and sank.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939, Norway 1940 and Dunkirk 1940.
