This the first ship to carry the name HMS Escort was a 14-gun,
sloop Originally a French privateer, captured 1757, 86ft 6in long, 24ft 6in wide and of 220 tons builders measurement. Sold 06-Dec-1768. Won the Battle Honour: Belle Isle 1761.
