This the second ship to carry the name HMS Donegal was a 1st Rate, Screw, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, launched 23-Sep-1858, 240ft long, 55ft wide, of 3,25 tons builders measurement and displacing 5,481 tons.

Renamed HMS Vernon, and used as a torpedo schoolship, 14-Jan-1886.

Sold 18-May-1925.
