This the third ship to carry the name HMS Defender was an
8-gun lugger. Originally the French privateer Bonne Marseille, captured Dec-1809 by HMS Royalist. Of 81 tons builders measurement, armed with 8 x 12pdr carronades. Sold 01-Sep-1814.
