Screw Corvette 16-gun

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Calliope was a 16-gun, screw corvette.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 24-Jul-1884, 235 ft long, 44ft 6in wide and displacing 2,770 tons. Armed with 4 x 6in and 12 x 5in guns.

Used as an RNVR Drillship from 29-Oct-1907.

Renamed HMS Helicon Jun-1915.

Renamed again back to HMS Calliope Oct-1931.

Sold 04-Oct-1951 for breaking up.
