This the third ship to carry the name HMS Biter was a Dapper Class, 2-gun, wooden screw gunboat.

Built by Pitcher of Northfleet, laid down 05-Feb-1855, launched 05-May-1855 and completed 25-May-1855. Engine by John Penn & Sons.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Used as a coal hulk from 24-Jan-1865, and later renamed T16.

Sold Mar-1904.

Won the Battle Honour: Baltic 1855.
