HMS Bedford (1698)  (1st)
3rd Rate 70-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Bedford was a third rate, 70-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Woolwich Dockyard, launched 12-Sep-1698, 151ft long, 40ft wide and of 1,073 ton builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Portsmouth 1741 as 1,230 tons bm and of 64-guns.

Reduced to a hulk from Nov-1767.

Sold 1787.

Won the Battle honours: Vigo 1702, Velez Malaga 1704, Marbella 1705, Louisburg 1758 and Quebec 1759.
