Co Class (1945) DD

Ordered on 24-Jul-1942, these were meant to be a repeat of the Z Class ships.

But changes in radar, and gun direction systems meant reduced torpedo fit, and number of depth charges carried. This coupled with severe delays with director towers, and overweight systems meant none saw war service.

Contest was the first all-welded destroyer in the Royal Navy.

After the war some continued in service until the early 1960's.
