HMS Weston (1933) SL  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Weston was a Falmouth Class (1932), escort sloop.

Built at Devonport, laid down -7-Sep-1931, launched 23-Jul-1932 and completed 23-Feb-1933.

On commissioning went to the Africa station from 1933 to Aug-1935. Then moved to the Red Sea until Jun-1939. After this underwent t long refit, which started at Malta and was completed at Portsmouth by Sep-1939.

Moved to the Rosyth Escort Force and service on the East Coast during which, she sank U-13 on 31-May-1940.

Then served in the Atlantic from Jan-1941 to Jun-1943. Refitted at Dundee Jun/Sep-1942 and Belfast Jun/Aug-1943.

After this served on the West Africa Command based at Freetown until Oct-1944 when she refitted at Bermuda until Dec-1944.

Returned to Portsmouth Jan-1945 and remained there until Jun-1945 when she paid off into Reserve.

Allocated for breaking up 22-May-1947 and broken up at Gelleswick Bay.

Won the Battle Honours: North Sea 1940, Atlantic 1940-44 and English Channel 1945.
