HMS Surprise (1796) (6th)

This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Surprize/Surprise was a sixth
rate, 24-gun, ship. Originally French, (Unite), captured by HMS Inconstant, in the Mediterranean, 20-Apr-1796, and renamed. Of 579 tons builders measurement and armed with 12 x 32pd and 8 x 18pd carronades, and 4 x 6pdr guns. Sold Feb-1802. Won the Battle Honours: 'Hermione' 1799.
