This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Suffolk was a Cruiser. Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, laid down 30-Jul-1924, launched 16-Feb-1926 and commissioned 07-Feb-1928 On completion went to the China Station. Returning to home waters for reconstruction after which she went back to the China Station. At the outbreak of war she returned to the Home Fleet and patrolled the Denmark Straits in Oct-1939. Apr-1940 took part in the Norwegian Campaign. During this on 17-Apr-1940 while bombarding a seaplane base at Stavanger, was bombed and severely damaged. Repairs took until Feb-1941. Then she returned to the Home Fleet and Arctic work until the end of 1942. Underwent refit from Dec-192 to Apr-1943, then went to the Eastern Fleet and the Indian Ocean until the end of the war. Sold 25-Mar-1948 and arrived at Cashmore of Newport for scrapping 24-Jun-1948. Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1940, 'Bismarck' 1941, Arctic 1941-42, East Indies 1944-45 and Burma 1945.
