HMS Sikh (1938) DD  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Sikh was a Tribal Class, destroyer.

Built by Stephen, laid down 24-Sep-1936, 17-Dec-1937, commissioned 12-Oct-1938.

Took part in the Norwegian Campaign, then North Sea operation against German convoys off the Norwegian Coast.

Mar-1941 formed part of the Lofoten raid.

May-1941 saw Bismarck operations and saw action against her.

Then it was to the Mediterranean.

On 13-Dec-1941 in company with Maori, Legion and the Dutch Isaac Sweem, intercepted and sank the Italian cruisers Da Barbiano and Di Guissano off Cape Bon.

As part of a disastrous raid on Tobruk, 14-Sep-1942 was hit and disabled by shore batteries, and sank close inshore.

Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1940, Atlantic 1940-41, 'Bismarck' 1941, Cape Bon 1941, Libya 1941, Malta Convoys 1941-42, Sirte 1942 and Mediterranean 1942.
