This the first ship to carry the name HMS Phaeton was an 8-gun, fireship.

Built by Castle of Deptford, launched 19-Mar-1691, 91ft 6in long, 25ft 6in wide and of 263 tons builders measurement.

Expended at La Hogue 19-May-1692.
