HMS Kempenfelt (1932) DD  (2nd)

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Kempenfelt was the C Class, destroyer leader.

Built by White, launched 29-Oct-1931, 329ft long, 33ft wide and displacing 1,390 tons.

She achieved 36.39kts on her trials.

After being commissioned she spent seven years in the Royal Navy and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy Aug-1939 to join the C Class ships which had been similarly transferred in 1937 and 1938.

Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935.

Renamed Assiniboine 18-Oct-1939.

Decommissioned 08-Aug-1945.

Wrecked 10-Nov-1945 Prince Edward Island, wreck sold 17-Jul-1952.

Won the Battle Honour: Atlantic 1939.
