This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Hunter was a 10-gun, sloop.

Built by Wells & Stanton of Deptford, launched 28-Feb-1756, 89ft long, 24ft 6in wide and of 238 tons builders measurement.

Captured by an American privateer 23-Nov-1775, off Boston, then recaptured by Greyhound.

Sold 27-Dec-1789 at New York as unfit.

Won the Battle Honours: Louisburg 1758 and Quebec 1759.
