HMS Campbeltown (1989) FG  (2nd)

   

This HMS Campbeltown is the second to bear the name and the third of the Type 22 Batch 3 frigates.

She was built by Cammell Laird Shipbuilders Ltd in Birkenhead, launched on 07-Oct-1987, and entered service 27-May-1989.

Deployed to the Persian Gulf Nov-07 to May-08.

The ship's motto is "Victoria Fortes Sequitur - Victory Through Strength"

The crest is of a Bog Myrtle bush, a plant only found in the area surrounding the town of Campbeltown in Argyll, Scotland, the ship's affiliated town and one with which close ties are maintained.

Decommissioned 07-Apr-2011.
