Wooden Paddle Frigate 6-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Auckland was a 6 gun, wooden paddle frigate used in the Indian service.

Built at Bombay Dockyard, launched 09-Jan-1840, of 946 tons builders measurement and armed with 6 x 8in muzzle loading rifled guns.

Used for harbour service from 1863.

Sold about 1874.

Won the Battle Honour: China 1856-60.
